LOL. I dunno. word just travels. I do almost no advertising (haven't had much luck with it).
Its basically the same guys each year, they just move to different teams, so that helps pick up new clients.
But on the same token, some teams could go belly up, and then I'm out work.
Panther has lost their sponsorship from pennzoil this year, so it's slow going with these guys at the moment.
No, this layout was for last years Pennzoil Indycar, driven by Thomas Sheckter, Panther Racing. It's the actual layout for the 1:1 racecar. I also do layouts for toys/diecast for an entirely separate client.
I guess I should go into more detail. Panther racing is one of my racing clients, I design their cars, uniforms, hauler, pit equipment, etc... I design/create sponsorship proposals, and handle much of their graphic work Including the panther logo, and even the championship logo found in that layout.
I can't really say I 'designed' this layout, because in truth, it was all based on the old 80's Jim Hall pennzoil car design (I think we went back to that all yellow layout in 2003). It was a good choice, because I couldn't even try a yellow car with anyone else as they'd say 'It looks too much like the pennzoil car'. Great marketing there, because you could run it with no decals at all, and everyone would know who it was. Kinda like marlboro cars running without marlboro decals, you still know who it is. Branding 101, keep it simple, don't change it every couple of years.
I've been workin with Panther since around '93 when they ran Interstate Batteries.
I currently also do stuff for Dreyer Reinbold, & Vision Racing, and a few oddball items for other teams in Indycar. I also design vehicles for the IRL & Indianapolis Motorspeedway (mostly marketing haulers, safety vehicles, pace vehicles) Currently, nhra is taking up much of my racework time.
